We are a community who is very involved with education and the students who attend Marlington. We do the best and most with what we have. Marlington has had the best academic statistics for numerous years in their math and reading. It has a great attitude and is always trying to meet all the students needs.
As a student of Marlington, it has been very interesting. Growing up in many schools, this would be one that is confusing to place under one category. I/ my family members have had a hard time with some of the teachers and their ways and methods of teaching, as well as some of the administration. There are many good people who attend MHS, you just have to be willing to deal with issues coming from teachers and administration.
I am a 2008 grad from MHS. I have to say that my four years there have been unforgetable. I have made life long friends in both the students and the teachers. I still go back every once in a while just to say hi. Being a freshman in college, I have decided that MHS has prepared me to succeed in both life and my education. I have to admit it...I miss it a lot.
Marlington High School teachers: some are good, some are just coasting through, the new principal is friendly and seems strict enough, the school superintendent and the teachers are still at war. The contract is approved, but many are still disgruntled. Students are not involved in the administrative problems though. There is a good athletics department and the coaches are very involved and student -oriented. The art department is always having students do many different kinds of art for many different reasons, and the work is outstanding. The Band has done really well at competition once again while the chorus and drama teachers have just given another play which was given an excellent review by critics and patrons alike. The various choruses and singing groups, like Duke Street, have given a recent concert which was very well done also. Academics are about average, some good classes, some bad, depending on the teacher.
