I have 2 kids in Hilsman and was hesitant to have them go to Hilsman because of what I read here. My kids are thriving there, and have made good friends. Their teachers are interested in them as young adults, treat them with respect and challenge them academically. There are lots of extra curriculars, a fantastic band program and a zero tolerance bullying policy, which is actually enforced, too. Perspective Hilsman parents should take the stuff they read online with a grain of salt--Hilsman has been a great environment for my boys.

I have two children at Hilsman Middle School. I moved them from private school at the beginning of the sixth grade. Both children are in AP classes and are getting a top notch education. The Math and Science classes are more advanced and the teachers more competent than at St. Joseph's Catholic School (which was a wonderful school for elementary level). Hilsman's Math and Academic teams are some of the highest rated in the state. I would recommend to any parent thinking about transitioning from private school into a public one to give Hilsman a look.

Teachers and administration are incredibly supportive. Hilsman has a lot of extracurricular choices... band, clubs, athletics. My son is in the advanced placement classes, and his academics seem challenging, and his national test scores are always high. We are glad that our son is at Hilsman.

The teachers were wonderful. I give high grades to the music department especially Ms Camp who made her enjoy music and is continuing in her new school.
