The greatest problem with the Letort is the school culture. Most of the Letort teachers have lost their spark--to include, most unfortunately, the principal herself. The school is run like a prison--try a lunchtime visit sometime where children are not allowed to socialize and chat or the dreaded red light will flash them into silence!! Parents are not welcomed here. Even more sadly, the amazing, diverse population of Letort children are not valued and celebrated. Letort Elementary--mediocre education at its best--not challenging, not innovative, not transformative. This school needs new leadership and turnover in faculty ASAP!
I have been very disappointed with Letort Elementary. This school does not make it easy for parents to be involved and at times it is uncomfortable to be in the school. Teachers walk past parents/volunteers in the hall and do not acknowledge them. I have been fortunate that my son has one of the few good teachers in this school. I have witnessed loss of patience with children with other teachers. The principal is not warm and welcoming and seems to not want parents in the school even to have lunch with their children.
My son has been to 3 elementary schools in the Carlisle district and we feel LeTort is the best one he has been to . The teachers are very well educated and our former principal Mrs. Musser related well to the children. She knew a lot about the students and we miss her. We do like our new principal Miss Shaffer and we would like to welcome her.
What a great school! It is culturally diverse and uses a TON of technology in every classroom. Each grade teaches to the level of the individual child...so that every child is challenged at his/her level. There is music, art and organized games on the school yard. Parental involvement is steadily increasing.
