We loved the school under Debbie Straughn's leadership. She was the best principal we ever had. We miss her!!!!!!
The teachers, staff and parents all work together to make it the best learning environment possible for the kids. There is even an 'outdoor classroom' where the kids learn about nature!!
I love the LOVE & LOGIC programs this Elementary has.... BOTH my kids went through this school, and have a lot more knowledge about a strong foundation of morals and ethics.
I am a firm believer that Deer Creek Elementary will only get better due to the new leadership of Bettina Kates. The previous principal, Debbie Straughn, managed the school much like a dictator. Teachers were fearful of her and parents and students never really felt like she was anything other than 'politically correct'. If you want a school that teaches to the test and is like a dog and pony show, go to Debbie Straughn's new school which opens in August, Grove Valley Elementary.
