I was a student at Neuqa and although it was a wonderful school academically, the kids that go to this school are far to obsessed with the material world of Naperville. There is a severe lack of human compassion in the halls of Neuqua and it always seemed to me that the parents were the ones who spurred this belief in their children. There was a competitive edge at the school, which has it's good and bad qualities; this pushed us as students to succeed, but it also seemed to leave some students in the dust with no one to really help them. I couldn't imagine a better high school for academia, but if you are looking to expose your children 'real' people look somewhere else as this will never be found in the tanorexic world of Neuqua Valley.

Yes, the academics and extracurricular activities are great, but there is so much ignorance and competition at this school. Every student strives to be perfect, yet sadly, the idea of perfection differs from student to student: best athlete, best academic performance, most popular, etc.. Once a student gets to the when he or she thinks or believes that perfection has been reached, this student will suddenly have this urge to demean the other students. This is unjust. Discrimination creeps the halls of Neuqua Valley, and it doesn't seem to be fading away. It's becoming more prevalent. Maybe it's the culture of the 21st century, who knows? It has to stop. Discrimination of the inferior, racial discrimination, gender discrimination, etc., it's all there, and it's unavoidable.

Neuqua Valley is a great school Life at Neuqua is competitive and stimulating. The teachers are often inexperienced and put in less than expected effort into work but this only makes Neuqua into more of a student driven affair. You get out of it what you put in. If you work hard you will learn a lot and find success at Neuqua Valley. If you decide to slack off, you will find the teacher's lack of experience a bit more annoying and the administration's expectations of its students to be a bit too high. I will be graduating this coming may and probably will attend Northwestern University.

I love the new principal Mr. McBride. I have 1 kid at the school and another entering soon. This school is so good it is better than most colleges. It has many AP and Honors classes, and an excellent Music Dept. You have to see Neuqua to believe it. I have met many of the teachers and I have never met a more experienced and motivating staff. My kid has just bloomed academically. It is such a diverse and positive environment. I can't say enough great things about Neuqua. It has to be the best high school in the entire state of Illinois. It is challenging academically but well worth the challenge. Neuqua is outstanding.
