Parker is an excellent school. The academic and social standards are set very high. Even better, it's not the least bit elitist, just good. The district needs to focus on keeping the classes small, and the parents need to stop pretending to be elites. This is Eugene, or nobody should pretend to be a member of the world's elite

Ellis Parker is a wonderful school whose principal and teachers are dancing as hard as they can to give their students an excellent well rounded education. Spanish, p.e., music and art are integrated and celebrated at this school. District 4J is currently running a system of extreme callousness towards neighborhood schools, and favoritism of 'alternative' schools. We have 36 children in our son's class, whereas the 'alternative' school we share our building with, Eastside, is able to cap their enrollment so that they can limit the number of children per classroom. Neighborhood schools are not allowed to cap enrollment and must take any child that moves into the neighborhood at any time during the year. Some years our school has fluctuated by as many as 30 children, yet we were funded by the state at the lower head count for the year.
