Being both a graduate and teacher in this high school (as well as other schools) I can agree and disagree with the other reviews. Going into college I felt like I was fully prepared in the English and Language Arts area. Mrs. Iris Wheeler had me fully prepared in composition and speech. There are a few areas that need improvement. I agree that you can get away with anything if you participate in athletics, especially if you're good. Most teachers are willing to help you if needed, but it seems like there are alot of 'free days' given. As for the problems of rudeness to others, that starts at home before they get to high school. Piketon High doesn't have half of the problems that schools in larger cities do. The 'violence' in this school is nothing compared to elementaries in Columbus. Be lucky your children have a safe educational environment!

My overall experience with Piketon was good. There is a few improvements need to be done. I don't feel I was as prepared for college in the English/Language arts area. Sports has always been an issue. I was in sports so I reaped the benefits. If you were in sports you got away with anything. I had some great teachers at Piketon. Ms. Sally Wheeler SS teacher, Mr. Taylor (RIP) great math teacher, Ms. Ransdell home economics, and Mr. Anderson you were great.

I had 2 children go to Piketon schools,I had no trouble. Now I have three grandchildren going there, the oldest(going in 7th grade),was stuggling. They have tutored him and helped him so much.He doesn't have a 'big last name',so I'm not sure where some people are coming up with that.I think Piketon Schools are the best ones in Pike County.Parents are responsible for getting involved. So stop complaining and get involved.

I used to attend this school, and when I was there I didn't have any problems with getting the help that I needed fromt the teachers or asking questions. This school is not as bad as people make it out to be. Its a little school in a poor place to be. Its not going to big the school that everyone wants to go to when you first see it.
