We've had two children who have attended McPherson and overall it is a pleasant environment with mostly excellent teachers. However, the original parents who helped to build the 'magnet' aspect of the school have all moved on and parent involvement is no longer as good as it used to be. Administration does not actively work to get parents to put in the 10 hours supposedly required. Class size increases and budget cuts have undercut the math-science-technology aspects. As word has spread and class size has increased, it seems that many parents are motivated by white flight from other heavily Hispanic schools nearby. The school needs to re-engage in its core mission.

I attended McPherson when it first opened as an elementary school. It was the best experience I have ever had. The teachers are so dedicated and involved with the students. I am now going to be a senior in high school and I look back at McPherson as the place of my fondest memories.
I have 4 kids at McPherson and never been to any other. My oldest is now going to be in 12th grade and has no problems or trouble with time mangement or being able to do her homework on her own. My second thinks High School is alot easier because of what she learned at McPherson. I still have two children there and I would not change it for anything. The staff and teachers are always there to be polite or dicpline when needed. One of the things I like best about McPhreson is they know my childs name and they know everyone who ever was able to be there. I think McPherson is a hard school and has alot of parent envolement but, from my experince since 1997 it is all worth it.
