My daughter has been at YMS since 6th grade, she is now in 8th grade, I have always been happy until this year. They are over crowded and lacking funding. They are showing trends of lower testing and you cannot teach a child what they need to know when you have 30 kids in a class. In 2007 I ranked YMS a five star, last year it was a four star, this year its a 3 1/2...and its only day two of the new year, so we will see how bad it gets. YMS used to go above and beyond, now its only doing what it has to do by law.

Today was the first day of school for my grand daughter. While on my way to work this morning I heard on the radio there had been an accident with a school bus right at the intersection where the school is. Being a grandparent I thought the worst and started making phone calls immediately. I reached the school and had to leave a message because the person in charge was on another line. I expected to get a call back but I never expected the response I got. The PRINCIPAL of the school called me back and she had already spoken to the Dept of transportation and she had called my grand daughter to the office to make certain she was ok.I feel like she went above and beyond and I really appreciated it. I look forward to a great relationship with this school for years to come.
