The teachers at Apison are wonderful, caring and top-notch. Unfortunately, the present principal is not a good role model for the children and lacks leadership qualities. Wish the school system would recognize the importance of a caring principal and replace him.
I love Apison Elementary School because the teachers truly care about their students. Apison is not a Title 1 school but it is located in a rural area which means that Apison still has quite a few poor students. Since the teachers at Apison do not have access to Title 1 funds, I have personally witnessed them spend their own money on school supplies, clothing, and field trip money for those students that could not afford them. You know you've got a great school when the teachers care so much!
My daughter has a fragile medical conditon and everyone at Apison has been understanding and Mrs. Johns and Mrs. Thomason have gone out of their way to assist her with her schooling and she has had two wonderful years at Apison
We transferred our child from a Private School due to the long commute and have been just as happy here at Apison. My child has a wonderful teacher who maintains excellent communication with us on our childs progress. I can not say enough about the new principal Ron Hughes. He is very hands on and his door his always open to parents as well as students. My child has food allergies and I was very impressed with the school nurse who contacted me early in the school year to set up a meeting to discuss protocol in case my child had a reaction. My child goes to computer class , art class, P.E. , library, weekly and gets learns so much from each. My child has had a sudden interest in reading which I attribute to the his teacher who is very encouraging in this area. I am so pleased!
