My 1st daughter has attended Alcova from 2nd thru 5th grade and has loved the school she was in the focus program and is going into the probe in middle school. My 2nd daughter is going into 2nd grade and loves the teachers as well. They are very caring and will do and has done anything to help my youngest with some problems and work with her the vice principals and counslors and very attentive to the children . We would and have recommend this school to eveyone. I would give this school 5 stars
In my three years of experience, I've found that this school is more about meeting policy and appearances than actually making sure that the students are succeeding. They seem to aim to get their requirements covered. It is also true that the principal is pratically nonexistant. A lot is left up to the staff to mediate. Although you will get plenty of friendly smiles and greetings, underneath the fluff, there are few teachers that actually show genuine interest in seeing those that required extra attention succeed as well. They don't do real field trips and they seriously lack in application of the curriculum to real life. Overall, I would say that it is a good school if your child is a fairly independent learner that can excel without much individual attention. For this reason, I would not give them any more than three stars.

We had horrible experiences in this school! Though you can find great teachers, you can also find some who aren't motivated in the slightest and are merely collecting a paycheck. This was disastrous for my student and we managed to get him out and had a much better time in a different school. The principal was practically nonexistant in my experience. She could never pick out my son from a crowd and know he was her student for three years. Sad
