William P. Tatem Elementary School

Tatem School has been quietly working on becoming the best school in Collingswood and the county. Mr. Gurcsik, the principal, also lives in Collingswood. He cares about the kids and that is extremely evident. He is an incredible motivating factor and has continued to make Tatem a 'family school.'

Let me just say this school without principal Gurcsik just will not be the same. He knows all the kds by name and he always takes time to greet thm even if not on school grounds or on school time. He is the reason Tatem School is such a smooth running machine. This principal is what every principal should aspire to be.

I have had two children in Tatem and couldn't be happier! It is everything I want for my children. As a teacher myself, I am impressed with the academics and the administrative leadership by Mr. Gurcsik.

We have only been with Tatem for 2 years now but love it. Everyone at the school works hard for the kids and makes a real effort to make everyone feel good and welcome. The principal is wonderful and really shows how much he loves kids and cares about their education. He can't go anywhere in town without a swarm of kids yelling his name and running to high five him. In our first year here we found my daughter was struggling in class and I mentioned in passing to the principal that I may need to talk to him about further help for her. The next morning he came to me and not only remembered her name but new everything about her! Since then they have really been there for us with her and still remain upbeat and positive about what can be done for her.
