I very recently attended North Middle School and ended up being the 'Valedictorian'. I would in no way describe myself as one who disrupts education or dawdles when getting to class, but I agree 100% with the recent posters who stated that passing time is too short. The four minute time span gave me just enough time to go to my locker and get to another class. Not once did I ever have time to use the restroom no matter how quickly I walked and the strict rules dealing with the distribution of bathroom passes kept me from being able to throughout the day. Out of the three years I attended this school, I would estimate that I went to the bathroom a total of three times. A longer passing time is a dire concern to the upkeep of the students' concentration.
I disagree with the poster below . I have found the Principal to be kind and very understanding. She has taken care of every problem I've talked to her about. My child has been going to North for two years, and has never been late to a class. They have more then enough time to get from one class to another. If your child is late it's because they are playing around in the hallway. I think there needs to be more commutation with the parents. Fifty teachers will be layed off in this Fall. Many programs will be cut. But the parents are not told where the cuts will be made.

I feel that our school's principal is very demanding and she doesn't give the students or teachers a fair chance at being their own characters. I wish she would allow students to be more free. Also, my child constantly complains of being tardy due to the fact that they only have 4 minutes of passing time. How are they supposed to go from one side of the building to another that quickly while also having to go to their lockers and to the restrooms. Many students would be willing to add 15 minutes to the end of their school day just so that they could have 2 extra minutes of passing time. Anyway, I give the teachers props for having the guts to stay at this school and deal with not only the principal, but also some of the students. I can't wait for high school to begin!
