I have been very pleased with Highland Terrace. My (dramatic and willful) daughter started out rather rocky even in kindergarten and first grade and needed a lot of work on behavior and discipline. Her first grade teacher is a stickler on good behavior (we are too), and was willing to communicate with us and work with us to meet the goals we had for her too. They involved their counselor to work with her and did basically whatever was necessary to create a discipline plan that put her choices and outcome in her control. Overall it was self motivating and positive. She enjoys the 'special art' time that she earns. I like the school overall. Students make regular use of playgrounds, gym, art and music rooms; have field days, field trips related to subject areas; do extra-curricular programs & musicals & have full admnstrn, teacher & parent involvement.

Highland Terrace is a great school. Both the teachers and administration do everything possible to help your child succeed and offer any extra help that's needed. They also offer extracirricular activities and family nights that help the entire family get involved with the school. Couldn't ask for a better school!

In my opinion Highland Terrace Elementary is one of the best schools I've ever seen. My kids are very happy and willing to attend classes, because they like the teachers and all the activities that the school offers for them so much. For me as a father, this school brings much more than just education for my children, it keeps me involved in their activities, and also in other subjects school-related. The teachers are well prepared, and the staff is very nice with parents all the time. I also like the communication with teachers via email, since this is the most accesible way for me to keep in touch with them. I give a score of five out of five stars to this school!

Highland Terrace is a great elementary school in a small city setting near farm land. We have special education classes and ESL classes. We really like our new art and music rooms. Our new media center is much larger than it used to be. The staff works really hard to promote the individual qualities of each student. We have male teachers in grades 2, 3, 4, and 5.
