Rondout Valley Middle School

I have a child in the 7th grade and one who just moved on to the high school. Most of the teachers they had were very good, some were excellent and one was a bit lacking. Parental involvment has always been welcomed and I have found the communication between teachers & parents to be good. The music program, particularly the band program is great. The modified sports opportunities are also very good. My kids have been happy with the school and their grades and test scores have been very good.

My daughter went from a nurturing, encouraging elementary school (Marbletown) to this middle school that did everything possible to do the opposite! The middle school starts in 5th grade when the children are around 10 years old and still very young. The administration runs the school on a negative note rather than positive. Most of the office staff should remember when they were in school and make it a fun and educational place to be--it's possible! the scores the students are receiving are terrible and I do blame it on the way the school is run. The teacher's my daughter had were excellent this year (and last) and they communicated with me and kept my daughter on track, she did well and she loved her 6th and 7th grade. She's looking forward to more wonderful teachers who will encourage her future. Thank you.

Have a daughter in this school, she likes it overall. Principal and Guidance Counselor are great people. food is terrible, they should handle cliquey situations more, should not be allowed, teachers need to discipline students more, favoritism is given to students whose parents volunteer in school often.
