The principal has changed and is friendly, open, and willing to speak with the parent. Some of the teachers are inexperienced in dealing with behavior and the word 'shut up' is inappropriate. You have to be involved as a parent and request what you expect from the teaching team and be part of that team to achieve good results; otherwise, it is status quo. Teaching to the test is a problem. We have lost the arts (use of the right side of the brain)!

The new principal has been trying to bring in lots of positive changes. She is very receptive to parents concerns and suggestions and is on a constant lookout to make school better than ever before. I have found that in some grades they have new teachers and they seem to be doing good in connecting with kids and paying attention to their growth and overall development along with academic studies. Overall the school is still settling in but the staff is committed to make school better at every opportunity.

My eldest child has been at Brier Creek since January 2008 and we felt very welcomed. Both her classroom teachers have been brilliant and I hear only good things about her other teachers. My youngest has started this school year and he is enjoying school very much and learning well. I don't have a lot of contact with the teachers and I would prefer a little more information on how my children are doing in class. I am new to the system and I am very impressed with the safety aspect. Well done to the PTA as well but I suspect they need more parents to help out. I am concerned about how more capable children may be left to do just the necessary work and not be challanged. Overall our experience at this school has been very positive.

This is my child's first year at Brier Creek Elementary School, and it will be our last. I am thoroughly unimpressed with the staff at this school. The lack of teacher communication is appalling. Nothing specific is sent home about how my child is doing in school. The information on the 'Iterim Report' at the end of the first 9 weeks was not at all sufficient. I need to be informed more often about how my child is doing in the classroom if I am going to help make a difference. Also, the information on this report was inconsistent with the classwork my child has brought home. This school seems to be focusing too hard on reading, and not enough on math, science, and social studies. From what I can tell, my child hasn't done any science at all! One positive thing about this school is the new PTA president.
