The Long Branch Public School district's preschool program is exemplary. It has a state-of-the-art facility, highly qualified teachers and teacher assistants, a support staff that includes psychologist, social worker, nurse, speech therapists and student advisors. The curriculum is engaging and developmentally appropriate. The environment provided by the staff is warm and nurturing. The recently published NIEER report listed New Jersey as one of three states with the highest quality requirements for preschool programs. New Jersey met nine of ten benchmarks of high quality programs. The only benchmark not met by the state was the requirement of Child Development Assistant certificates (or equivalent) for teacher aides. Long Branch met all ten since it is required that teachers assistants have 60 college credits and/or pass the Educational Testing Service ParaPro test. The Long Branch preschool program is exemplary in a state boasting the highest level of preschool education standards in the nation.
