My two kids have been at Saint Joseph's since pre-kindergarten (now in late elementary and middle). As they've grown we've assessed the merits of public and other privates. But the realization we've come to is that Saint Joe's has an exceedingly strong positive culture. The kids are wrapped in it and they thrive academically. The size of the school is a huge advantage in that regard. As the product of generic public schools ourselves, we've always wanted our kids to be 'from somewhere special'. St. Joe's is certainly that place.
It's hard to write this with so many wonderful reviews. good things: communication with teachers and adminsitrators, efficiently run, wonderful families, Spanish and computers are very good, athletics program, reading program. The areas this school falls short on are the after school programs for the older students. They must participate in sports and therefore there isn't anything for students who are passionate about academic things. Art program needs improvement. Finally, despite the findings of much research in the field of education over the last 10 years that urges educators to give criticial-thinking lessons, step away from the book, to give projects that are creative and subjective, not teach to the test, this school relies heavily on worksheets, multiple choice, closed-ended activities, and test preparation. There are little to no creative or inspiring activities to teach lessons. This school could be great for many children, but does not foster innovative problem-solving skills.

I love St. Joe's! My kids are thriving with advanced coursework and many opportunities in athletics and the arts.
Saint Joseph's Episcopal School is the best school in the community. My child is a recent alumni after being at Saint Joseph's School for eleven years. It all started here with the rigorous academics, performing arts and the challenging athletics. Saint Joseph's has it all. This school has inspired my child so much in the church, in the classroom, on the field and on the stage. The school has given my child christian ethics and is very well prepared for High School and College. Mrs. Pleasanton you are the best teacher and mentor anyone could ever have. As a parent you will love the safe, loving and nuturing environment at this school. I highly recommend Saint Joseph's Episcopal School to all families looking for an affordable private school in this community.
