4 out of 5 stars

Posted May 31, 2007

3 multi-age classrooms define this school: 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6. It requires 65 hours of parental volunteering per year, and the education the children get reflects the love and energy that these parents pour into their children. Children best suited for this type of education are self-motivated. Those kids who are easily distracted and do better with a structured environment may not flourish in this busy setting. The principal is leaving, and the new guy promises to be a breath of fresh air: he was vice principal 2 years ago and the staff and parents eagerly anticipate his arrival. PTSA is very active. The grounds are herbicide free (only elementary in district). On campus with Carl Sandburg elementary.
