Evendale Elem School is the newest school in the Frederick County School system. Many of the teachers are young and some new to teaching when the school opened up. I found the attitude of the teachers to be good but I found the administration to be lacking in warmth or interaction with families or the children that they have contact with on a daily basis. Their attitude seems to be that the school belongs to them and that they will run it the way they like rather than the school belongs to the people of the community. They administration does not really believe in competition in any form nor do they believe in giving acknowledgment of good work performed by the children other than a certificate passed out in the classroom. Very serious and little fun.

I love the positive and clean environment of Evendale Elementary. The teachers seem very nice, and the second grade teacher that my child has (Mrs. Salvati) is fantastic. My child says that 'Mrs. Salvati is fabulous and very nice! We have lunch at a good time. The teachers and aids make sure we get drinks after recess, so that we don't get too hot. The school makes sure you get lots of education.' The school nurse is also awesome. She keeps up to date on everything, and informs you of any gaps that she sees in your child's immunization. She helped with my children's transition to this area immensely. I would recommend this school to anyone moving to the area. It is a new school (just ~2 years old) and is well laid out, with new equipment, and a staff that is working on teaming always.
