This is a great school, and school district. My older son just passed on to Middle School, and my youngest is going into the 3rd grade. I highly recommend this school district.

The administration pushes down too many nonacademic lip-service programs, which forces the teachers to push homework. My first-grader does an extraordinary amount of homework. The school day runs from 9am-4pm; the late start makes it hard to fit in life beyond homework before bedtime. Less clutter in the schedule, more 3-R's work in school, and an earlier start would fix a lot. This appears to be a grossly mismanaged school district. Attention flies around depending on the latest test scores. They push reading hard, including mandatory home reading paperwork that parents must file or watch their child be ostracized at school, but math lies fallow for long stretches. Then suddenly they engage in a flurry of catchup, mostly homework. There's weekly spelling quizzes on words that must be learned entirely at home. Send you child to Clear Creek and you can home school them at the same time.

Clear Creek Elementary has all of the bases covered and it is apparent why they have been recognized nationally. The principal does many creative things to inspire the students. The teachers help the students to learn through a multitude of techniques that make learning fun and seemingly much easier. Everybody who knows the school loves the school.
