My 3 kids have been in the Brentwood School District since kindergarten...and its been great! Of course, like any other school district, there are occasional problems, but the staff are always on top of it. The learning environment is very good, all 3 of my kids are excelling here. Yes, gangs are a little bit of a problem here, but no school district is without problems. I wish people wouldnt judge out school district by a few bad news reports. Our teachers are the most caring and involved teachers...my kids like to go back and visit their previous teachers year after year. The test scores are getting better and better each year, and a very high percentage of our graduates go on to college, and many come back to Brentwood to work and live after college, many even teach in the Brentwood School District!
The district provides many resources for helping troubled / or special needs children. Physical and emotional needs are met. I have 7 adopted children who were born addicted, they range from severe ADHD, CP and bipolar. Psychological, physical therapy and special programs are available. Just ask.
About Brentwood School District's bad reputation - most of it is not true! My daughter has been going to Brentwood since first grade. For the most part it has been a very good experience. Any problems that came up the principle, administration & teachers were right on top of it. As for West Middle being a dangerous school for students because of gangs & yes the bad apples, as soon as even a rumor of a problem occurs, the whole staff at the school take action right away. There is not too many incidents that get out of hand. The teachers my daughter has had they were very caring. If the student is willing to learn Brentwood teachers are the best They take time out of there own schedules & lives to help students that ask for it or are recommended for extra help.
