I am a parent of a soon to be 'graduate' of Cannonsburg as well as an educator at Kent ISD. I can say that without a doubt that my student has benefitted tremendously from attending Cannonsburg. The staff are beyond wonderful and engaging. They appropriately challenge each and every student to coax their personal bests constantly. The Principal - Mrs. Thelen is exactly how an elementary administrator should be. She is also the District's Gifted & Talented Coordinator - great plus! Instructionally, I can't say enough about all the staff, but especially Mrs. Beach, Mr. Papas, Ms. Devereaux, Mrs. TenBrink, Mrs. Patten, Mrs. DeKuiper....well they are all great! The school has no doubt outgrown it's current facility, and is going to undergo and expansion soon - eliminating the portables. The enrollment is small - smallest in the district - and as such, the school feels more like family.
I have a 'k' and a 4th grader . school over all pretty good. could use more help on the play ground and hall ways .school bulding does need help, with 3 portables out side and class sizes growing they need more room . teachers are great (office help could be more helpfull and friendly)bus rides are awfull. no control with kids , my kids don't ride the bus any more .
As a parent of two children at Cannonsburg Elementary, I am very impressed with many opportunities for learning and enrichment offered. The teachers and staff are wonderful and I never miss an opportunity to praise them. The Cannonsburg parents are quick to volunteer their time to help in the classrooms or with fundraising projects. Our experience with Cannonsburg Elementary and the Rockford Public Schools in general has been great!
My daughter is in the second grade and has had a wonderful experience at this school. Everyone at the school knows my child (the staff as well as other teachers). It is a warm and caring environment with firm but reasonable expectations. The faculty and staff are able to assist in any issues you have with your child.
