This was my son's first experience with public school and I can honestly say I am thrilled with the teachers, curriculum, and over all experience. The teachers go out of their way to help students and they are very responsive if you send a question by email. The homework load is just right, and not over burdening for middle school age children. The curriculm is practical and very applied to daily life. With such a good experience at Van Hoosen, I regret all that money I spent on private education.
We moved here from the Wheaton, IL area. My son has attended Van Hoosen for two years. The teachers have been caring and make themselves available to those who wish to contact them. There are regular teachers conferences and I have set up several special conferences to deal with my son's issues. Everyone has been responsive and willing to help. There were some teachers that people had problems with in the past, but these teachers retired and the school has a different atmosphere now. The coaches for the sport teams are excellent with the kids and emphasize the basics over simply winning. We have been very happy with this school and are thrilled it will be totally renovated within the next two years.
