Excellent band program, but overall level of academic standards has slipped over the years. No longer participates in science fair and very few algebra students pass the exit exam to high school. Several tenured teachers have troubled records and should be closely scrutinized: i.e. ongoing relational difficulties with students, parents and fellow staff members. Small PTSA, good parental involvement for rec night. Some disciplinary issues - safety, stealing, etc... Mediocre test scores for MEAP.
The leadership of the principle Mr. Bean leads the way to making this an excellent school for middle school children. Many excellent teachers make learning a wonderful experience for kids. Children also receive much compassion and empathy for this difficult transition from childhood to pre-adulthood.
