My high school student is now starting at BHS and I must say that the staff is wonderful. Very caring and also observant. Each student gets a locker and the guidance counselor has already called us to fill us in even though school starts next week. We received mail to inform us about the school cafateria and my student was given a study group to help her along. I just love Binghamton!! If you want to challenge your student further you can always put them in another district. BHS is great for those who need a caring environment with lots of support. Shouldn't every district provide that?
BHS is best of district-others are worse. Offers AP & IB. Test scores lousy. Poor graduation rate. Poor curriculum from K on so kids not prepared for HS.Most fail Regent Exams-few do well . Curriculum & expectations are very low & the work is a couple of years below grade level. Academics are not taken seriously by the administrators.Kids are not expected to work very hard or learn much. Most kids are not headed for college. Look at the state report cards before deciding on this system. There are defenders but the data does not lie. Look at the report cards before moving to this county.
