Im a 8th student at JMS. The school is excellent for middle schoolers because it teaches them to try to think independently. The teachers really care about us here, save a few. The discipline is great, with Mr. Howell here, nobody tries to make a ruckus. Both the principal, Mr. Godfrey, and the vice principal, Mr. Howell, are fair minded and try to see all of the situation if they deem necessasary(sp?). There are problem children here, me being witness to them in the hallways, but once they talk to Mr. Howell, they never act up again. This is a trully remarkable school to send one's child too.
This school is very good. Teachers do a good job of teaching the kids and they are great to talk to. I like everything that is going on here and my child really likes all of his teachers and the principals. I feel lucky to be up here because I know people that have kids in schools around Atlanta and they have a bad time with their schooling. Thanks.
This is certainly one of the best middle schools in North Georgia. The building is actually the old Pickens County High School, and yes, it's old--but its very clean. The principal is a great instructional leader, but the school had a lot of discipline problems in the past. The new assistant principal came in and took the ole' bull by the horns and made this a great school. Being involved in PTO, I know some of the parents of problem students are complaining, but I say too bad. If you don't like how they run the school, you need to get your child out of the school and see how much fun it is to be at home with your problem child. I love this school and so does my child. I support these principals all the way! Thank you for caring enough to make this school disciplined and academically sound!
This school does a great job with academics and now, with discipline. The Principal knows so much about school instruction and the new assistant principal is great with discipline. He has gotten alot of problems under control and suspended alot of students that didn't need to be there. This is a great school!
