It is a mixed bag for Adams middle school. Most l.a. area schools have become, out of necessity, adept at dealing with ESL (english as a second language) students. Adams speaks a decent game but delivers nothing. We were told of programs and help that did not exist-as we were deciding which school to place our english-challenged children into. There are a few outstanding teachers. Most that I have seen try hard to not expend too much energy on any student. If your child needs extra attention this is not the school for you. We had meetings to address our concerns and we were given lip service-actually lied to. Also, the students in the common areas pretty much run amok. I had an issue with a bully thug and my daughter, and nothing was done.

Hello. I used to attend this school, and I had the best years of my life here. The extracurricular activities and electives were awesome, (especially Drama), and the atmosphere was really pleasant. There wasn't much diversity, but everyone got along just fine, and there were hardly any fights. I was a bit upset at the 'ghetto' reputation it had; I've seen many bad schools, and this one did not deserve it's rep.
We love Adams! My son is a gate student on permit, and he's had the best education this year so far. The principal is on top of behavior and is often seen patrolling the campus.

For the first time this year, the total student enrollment has surpassed that of the other middle school in the district. In an open enrollment district where students can choose to go to either school, this is very telling. Saturday school is in all schools, just new to Adams and a good option instead of formal suspension.
