Boulder Journey School is an amazing school for young children. My son was part of the program when he was an infant and would have completed his preschool experience at the school had I not been transferred for my job to the World Bank in Washington, D.C. The educators at Boulder Journey School hold children at the heart of their work and value the partnerships with families. I would have loved to have seen how my son would have grown and blossomed in this creative and innovative environment that fosters life long learning.

Imagine my dissappointment when I was told that I would have to wait to enroll my daughter in BJS, having graduated two of my older children from the school. Being a master teacher of education myself (prior to becoming a mom), I should have known to be more proactive in enrolling my daughter since Boulder Journey School is the best preschool I have ever experienced. Thankfully, my daughter, though completely different from her brothers, is having an equally fantastic experience.
I just came upon this site, and had to post my own comment after reading the one already posted. I have two kids at BJS, and couldn't be happier. My kids are very different, and have different needs (one is social and happy to be dropped at school, while my other is more needy and less socially adept.) I found the teachers worked very hard to make both of my kids invested in their schooling and more than willing to make new arrangements/strategies for coping with difficult situations. One teacher from a different class volunteered, for example, to have my son go to her class whenever feeling sad so the guinea pig could cheer him up. No reason to do this except for great character and desire to make the kids happy. Sorry the other parent did not have a good experience- but the school is great...

For a school that charges more than I pay for my other son's college education, I was appalled to find out what they were paying their teachers. It boosts creativity for some kids, but other kids were sort of left out if they were not as involved. I was not satisfied. I pulled my son out after a year of promises from teachers and administration that my son would come around, that the teachers would adapt the curriculum to my son, but if they got their heads out of the books and spent time with my on, they would have seen he was not happy.
