I don't believe that this school deserves the amount of trash talk it is getting. Yes students get a lot of work, and some struggle. If you actually put more thought into the ridiculous things you post, the thought that sailing through middle school and high school isn't a good thing. Struggling is what prepares you for what is next. This forum is chock full of lies and slander. For all the parents with a complete outside view, no matter what you think you know, it's probably wrong. If you really hate the school that much, nobody said you have to come here.
Ranney School is a wonderful place where everyone knows your child and education is unparallel in the area. I see my daugther confidently attacking math problems, going over the moon in science and computer lab and getting exposure through language program (french and mandarin chinese) to the magic of the world outside of my county and US. Staff has very high expectations from Every child and motivation to learn is fantastic - it is enviroment where cool kid is a outstanding student and sky is the limit. It has been a pleasure watching my daughter absorbing and learning and asking and becoming a child me and my husband dreamed to have.

My child is in the Upper School, and it's a wonderful place. In fact, my older children are Ranney grads, and I can see how the quality of the teaching staff has improved significantly over the past few years. I find the administration supportive, accessible, and fair. The college office, however, is amazing--they work to find the right fit for your child. Not every kid is a superstar in my child's class, but there are a lot of top kids in every class.

The administration is ruining a potentially outstanding school. Teachers who genuinely care about their students are abused; hence, there is a high turnover. Why do you think they don't post individual teacher bios on their website? Ultimately, unrealistic expectations are placed on teachers and coaches by administrators who lack the credentials and academic background to manage an academic institution effectively. Although the class size is small, if your child is not academically disciplined or gifted, your child will struggle! If you think sending your child to this school will help them get into an ivy or top-notch college, think again. Check out each year's list of where graduates are going; it looks identical to most public school lists. The students are great kids, however, the sense of entitlement and the nonexistent follow-through of disciplinary policies eventually teaches them poor values and morals. I would never send my child here.
