In reply to the parent review posted on July 25, 2005:I am a parent who has had two children complete Amory Middle School. I am active in the school and the PTO. I have been in the school on many, many days while school is in session and during class changes. I have never seen nor heard of older children hanging around the bathrooms picking on younger ones, and younger children do not go to the bathroom in pairs because of safety fears. I can assure you that the principal would promptly take care of any bullying issues there. The PTO would love extra willing workers at all times. The PTO raises money for the direct benefit of the students at AMS and can account for all money received and the appropriate allocation of the money. AMS is a great school with a wonderful staff!

Good school except safety is not the most important issues. The younger children have to go to the bathrooms in pairs because the older kids hang around in there and pick on the younger ones. Also the PTO needs improvement. Currently a select few parents have the meetings during the week at lunch, therefore most working parents can't attend. Of course, they ask for your money. Academics offered at levels below what top performers could achieve, however the No Child Left Behind makes the school cater to the less able which then leaves the high achievers in limbo.
