The school doesn't do nearly enough to support the arts, whether it be through their drama society or through their art program. Academics and athletics are emphasized to the extreme here, and so non-athletic students may feel marginalized for not participating in a sport or being a high achiever academically. The quality of the teachers is excellent in English & Language Arts as well as History, but I agree that math is not supported at all. I would like to see a re-vamping of their guidance office as well- there is very little emotional support for students- transfer students especially.

Extracurricular activities abound; however, if you are looking for a very good cirriculum you won't find it here. They seemingly don't demand excellence from students; math appears to be a study they don't support well (although they certainly pay much). Typical of schools; low expectations from students = poorly equiped graduates

I've put two children through East Lyme High and I have never seen a school so willing to help young people as this place does. Kids practically live there with everything that goes on in the school. If you have a child that has the desire to excel and get ready for a top college, this is the school.
