This school has an excellent music program with a dedicated teacher using world-class mallet instruments.

We have been very disappointed in this school. There has been virtually no effort to challenge my children beyond what is required by the FCAT. Once my child mastered this material,it was just time to sit and wait. Just be quiet and walk on the green line seems to be the primary concern. However, this concern for discipline seems to end when bullying is involved. My child has been pushed, punched, and threatened with scissors. If this behavior happens to be noticed by a teacher (which is rare),nothing of consequence happens to the bully. The sports seem largely unsupervised. On the positive side,I will say the music and art programs are superior and much enjoyed by my children. There is a lot of parent involvement and a wonderful PTA. The teachers seem well meaning, just overwhelmed with disciplinary issues and underperforming students. This leaves the good students to lose interest in school and not reach their full potential.

Did not care for this school. Seemed unorganized and unable to provide stability for a first time student.

My son has attended Lake Shipp Elementary for 2 years. He enjoys it and doesn't want to be transfered. He feels comfortable and looks forward to most school days. The teacher he has this year is an improvement over last year. Overall, the staff is friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere is welcoming. Academically, it has room for improvement but overall, we were satisfied.
