We have 4 children who have been part of many different school systems. We are new to the SM School District. The IFEC school's professionals did not provide any feedback when we asked questions regarding our child's abilities and if he would be allowed to participate in what they call a 'special education'(gifted) curriculum that he was always a part of in the prior schools. Unfortunately, we have been told by several resources that the IFEC students are chose depending on who they know. We were never given an answer as to his acceptance or denial! The principal, several teachers and administrative staff we encountered were not very welcoming or friendly. Several of our neighbors, aquaintances and friends say, 'IFEC isn't so great but the YB Middle School is much better.' We find this unacceptable and are very disappointed in IFEC.
My son attended this school the year my husband was in the Army War College. The teachers and staff were great and he felt accepted by his peers. He really loved the after school activities made possible by being in a smaller school.
this school has great teachers who are willing to work with students no matter what the problem is. they always encourage parents to be involved. if a child wants to do sports, music,etc. it's available to them.
I feel that if the teacher would use the books more instead of hand outs it would keep the kids more intrested in the work. i also feel that they should start in the beginning of the book and follow it all the way through and do the activities at the end of the chapters that go with it. this would encourage more book reading and organization. i also feel that treating all kids equal is very important. all kids learn in different ways. they also need better reading materials.
