I have 2 children here, and half way thru our 2nd school year here, I can say that I'm not as impressed with the school as the reputation it had prior to my moving to the area. The teachers mean well, but seem a bit overworked or overmatched, not sure which yet. At previous schools (Cy-Fair ISD) I have done well with regular email communication with teachers to help me stay abreast of what was going on with my child, both good and bad. At BPE, they do try, and I appreciate it...however, the communications tends to fall off very quickly. And I usually don't get anything from them, until it's been weeks and weeks of sub-par performance on my child's part. As a result, it's become too reactive, whereas the whole point in my communicating via email regularly is to be proactive.
It is 3 year later and I am experiencing the same problems in the first review submitted. This was the first year. I received inadequate communication from my son's teacher who was teaching this level for the first time this year. Next year is uncertain at this point. I feel mislead concerning my child's progress. This school had a reputation for years as being a great school academically. Communication between the parents and the school has gotten a little better, but I still received late notifications on school events.

I feel the quality of the academic programs have gone down in the last two years. It seems in this time frame the school is trying to bring new children up to the standards and the children that are already doing at or above the standard are not getting ahead. They need to seperate the classes academically so that the children that are ready to move at quicker pace can do so. I feel there is not emphasis placed on music, art or other extracurricular activities. The level of parent involvement seems to have declined in the last year or so and I feel it is due to the fact that the school does not give parents enough notice to schedule for school events. Also there is not enough communication or clear communication that is sent between the school and the parents. This is an above average school with room for improvement.
