P.S. 172 Beacon School of Excellence

The principal, staff and students clearly have it together! You ll rarely come across a fine group of educators who go above and beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of every student. The staff reach out to the students and do so with such sincerity. I attended P.S.172 as a child and I m amazed at its success. I presently have both my sons attending P.S.172 and I must say, each day I drop my boys off, I do so with pleasure. It is great to observe the academic accomplishments of this school especially when the neighborhood hasn t changed all that much a neighborhood that even after thirty years consists of a melting pot parents who come from different countries and who a considerable amount speak English only as a second language. The principal and staff must be commended for their exceptional work as well as the students and parents for their efforts. With all resources (i.e. the principal, staff, parents etc.) being employed, no wonder this school is truly the beacon school of excellence.

P.S. 172 is a wonderful school and could not be lead by a better leader. Mr. Spatola is highly invested in making this school reach above & beyond the typical standards of a public elementary school. The faculty is great & the PTA staff is incredible. The meetings are informative & their continuous efforts at involving parents is wonderful. My daughter is now in Kindergarten & loves her teachers. I'm proud to have to her attending this fantastic magnet school for leadership!

I love this school my son started kindergatden this year and went in knowing almost nothing just his a,b,c's and numbers 1-10 now he knows how to add simple math read and write certain words. This is a big improvement for him as a five year old.

I am so happy and grateful that my child is attending this school. The school strives for excellence in academics, which to me is the most important part of his education. A lot of other schools concentrate too much on recreational activities and their education suffers because of it. The principal and the staff work very hard to help the children that are struggling and it show with the wonderful test results.
