This school great academically. But very pressured. And discipline seems a bit over the top. It is hard to jump into this when you don't start from the beginning.

Apart from the pick up/drop off routine, there really isn't much not to love about South Arbor Charter Academy. As a parent of two special-needs children, I've been consistently impressed with the school's eagerness to help them develop to the best of their ability. Regular parent involvement is encouraged -- and yet, it is the staff (particularly Principal DiLaura and Vice Principle Hudson) who really deserve a great deal of the credit with their dedicated example. Instead of hiding in their offices, they are out at the curb every day, greeting students and modeling the respect and orderly living they try to emulate in the students. To the parent who was disappointed in the number of novels the students were required to read, I can only say that any parent who wanted to start a book club would undoubtedly be welcomed with open arms!

My child started off in another school district that did not think that children should be challenged at all. I was absolutely thrilled when we got the news that she could start at South Arbor. She has grown by leaps and bounds after moving to a school that sets high expectations for student learning and holds them accountable for it. She is working two years above her grade level. Even better, she loves the school!
