Oakland International Academy - Middle/High School

Hello, To the community, students, staff, and future families seeking a great school. I apologize in advance for any prior negative experience you had with OIA. As a current teacher, I have not seen any signs of racism within our build (thus far). Everything starts with respect and leadership. Our principal is great at listening to the children, families and staff. As a teacher we have planned lessons using models like SIOP, Lucy Calkins Writing..., and that each lesson implemented is modified for individual learning styles. We are on task with LA, Math, Reading,Writing, Specials and more. 'Every day millions of students arrive at American classrooms in search of more than reading and math skills. They are looking for a light in the darkness of their lives, a Good Samaritan who will stop and bandage a burned heart or ego' Jim Trelease. Let us make a change.

I think oia is a great school! i really learned a lot and the teachers are very nice and willing to help you at all times!! and plus i really like the fact that the school is small because everyone is like one family...( I've been in oia for 2 years now and there is only 2 fights that i've heard of-compared to other schools that is nothing!!)so it is a wonderful school and nice teachers and it is very easy to make friends...

My kids attended to OIA for one year, and I found the teachers pleasant and good willing. I believe that with some discipline the school can become successful.
