My two daughters have attended GMS since their Elementary years and are now in Middle School. This is an excellent school. The children become independent learners, are self-reliant. If you want your child to become an independent thinker, this is the place to go.
My two sons have been enrolled at this school for approximately 10 years. My oldest is now in the middle school and my youngest in 4th grade. We love that our children love being there. We feel that our children love to learn because of the methods used for teaching. We also love that the philosophy of the school is very global - with a deep respect of the world, the land and each other. Unlike one of the other reviewers on this site, we have been impressed with how conflict is dealt with at this school. It has been our experience that conflict between children is dealt with head on. We have incorporated tools such as the 'peace table' in our own home. Our children are not afraid to ask the teachers questions and are expected to be teachers and leaders themselves as they grow. We love GMS
I am a student at this school currently in 7th grade and spending my last year there in 8th grade. This school is amazing. I love the programs that we do. There is a certain program called 'The Land' which is an outdoor camping expierence and getting to know the outside world. I feel I have learned much more about my classmates and teachers at The Land and feel more opened and free in the outside enviroment that we stay at. This school is also wonderful because it teaches pratical life skills. I like this because I have a trouble with presenting. The teachers focus on that and help give you suggestions on how to improve. I will never feel the same way about a school like this because I've attended here since I was 2 years old and Iove my friends and teachers.
This school has a no bully policy, but teachers won't listen to the kids if there is a problem. They're no help to the kids at all. Discipline is almost non-existent. Teachers turn a blind eye to bullying & teasing. So parents have to get involved for things to be taken seriously. If you have a special needs child, don't come here. Their philosophy is great, but not so great once you actually get in it. I wouldn't recomend this school to any of my friends.'
