LCWM is a school on the move. The residents of the district are finally supporting its students with a new school and they just renewed a levy. The former principal did a great job changing old fashion views on education and challenging the staff to change. Those improvements are beginning to show with improved test results, etc. The main downfall of the district is the board and the Superintendent. They are incompetent and are poor money managers that has caused the district to remain in Operating Debt. In spite of the lack of leadership at the district level, the schools do a great job and the students get a fine education.
I am a student in the class of 2009 at LCWM. I think it is an excellent school but lacks funding needed for extracurricular activities. The education and discipline is good and the teachers know all of the kids. It is nice having a smaller school so you get the chance to know your teachers more personally. The referendum passed this past September and the new building is scheduled to be done for the 2006-2007 school year. The only thing missing is the money.
I think LCWM is a wonderful school! The kids are wonderful and the teachers are equally great. The class of 2004 were exceptional and I am a very proud parent of a 2004 graduate of LCWM.
We had children in the Wellcome-Memorial schools before the consolidation with Lake Crystal. The children in the Wellcome-Memorial School District received a wonderful education and have gone on to great achievement. Our children who attended the consolidated district's schools located in and administered by Lake Crystal struggled in college and are still looking for jobs. We consider the education offered by the Lake Crystal High School to be extremely inferior and the discipline nonexistent!
