A true neighborhood school, where all the kids know each other--and all the teachers know all the kids! PS 39's small size means small class size and more attention from the excellent, dedicated staff. The past four years, under Principal Anita DePaz have seen the school grow and flourish--our kids love it!

I have to disagree with the last reviewer's comment about working parents not being welcome at PS 39. My husband and I both work full-time and have a daughter in Kindergarten at PS 39 (she started last year for pre-k). We have always felt welcome at school, and found her teachers and the administration willing and able to communicate with me via phone, email or in person when I have been able to be at school. This year, I am a class parent, involved in fundraisers and truly enjoying meeting many new people at the school. There's an active Yahoo group for parents to keep up with the issues of the school, and no shortage of information that comes home each day. PS 39 is a special place, one my daughter feels very much at home in, and one I appreciate more and more each day.
