I recently graduated from Gaston Day School in the class of 2009. I will say that Gaston Days's English Department is by far the best in the state and has overly prepared me for college english. Now that I have tha out of the way, Gaston Day provides mediocre science courses, sub-par math courses and is oddly selective in honors positions and class placements bases on how much a parent donates to the school. The workload is very rigorous which leads to the most stressed out high school students I have ever seen. The social experience is miserable. The students are fake and if there are disagreements there is no way to escape the person you have a problem with and you will most likely carry that hostility throughout the highschool career. Also, I feel that the school is more concerned with it's overall image rather than the inividual student.

My son transferred in to Gaston Day from another private school. He handled the transition well. For the most part the teachers do a good job. There are a few who shouldn't be working wth children. Overall we are content for now.

Gaston Day is an awesome school! There's a ton of homework and essays but it's academically challenging, and I enjoy it. Gaston Day School is for people who are truly interested in learning, and it has a friendly and opening atmosphere. We have a lot of in class discussion and group work, which I think is great! I would definitely recommend that you send your child here if you're willing to pay the money and if your child is academically gifted. (I'm in middle school by the way, and have been going to Gaston Day for two years.)

I have two children at Gaston Day and believe that it is the best school in the greater Charlotte area. If offers an education that teaches students how to think and learn, not what to think and learn. The faculty is top notch and consistently goes out of its way to create lifelong learning relationships with its students. Gaston Day's extra-curricular offering are outstanding all-around as well. Whether your child is an athlete, artist, thespian or scientist, they will thrive in this student centered atmosphere!
