I have had two children enrolled at FHM since 2003 The school was started at 20th and Youngfield and moved to a corporate center on rt 40 in Golden (near Kohls) a few years later. For us, the school gives us all of the positive elements of a Montessori education with the testing and lessons in place to meet academic expectations. A proper Montessori environment requires an organized, structured environment supplied by adults to enable children to access the materials and lessons needed to be self-motivated learners. Free Horizon provides this beautiful and supportive environment. During conferences, the teachers seem well aware of the students needs and how to meet them. The students are given PE, Art, Music and Spanish and the school offers after school enrichment programs with a fee. Including sports camp, choir, band, pottery, etc.

We were at the school for a number of years and left this year, even though I feel it is very hard on kids to switch to a new school, there were just to many problems for us to stay. The teachers we had were great, but the problems we had with the administration, and getting the kids the services I believe they were entitled too became a battle. I don't believe I was the only on with this problem as the IEP rates dropped dramatically. Also of concern is two or three head teachers have left in the middle of the year the last few years, and a lot of the kids friends and teachers have chosen not to return. There was also very limited communication from the school about my kids. Problems went on for months before I was notified, despite talking to the staff regularly.
