We have been with WCA for 6 years and have endured all the changes that come with a growing school. We have had 2 of the best principals in Northen Colorado take our little 'one room' school and turn it into a top-notch educational facility. Our board members are all concerned parents whose children range from kindergarten to 8th grade and are very involved in what is being taught in each grade. I have a very advanced 5th grader and was happy to know that this year she was able to move into the higher math class, while even more advanced 5th graders were moved into 6th grade math. My kindergardener was pulled out of reading to be placed into a literacy program that has helped her tremendously. The small class size and friendly atmosphere has help both my kids to succeed. We are very happy with WCA.

We were really excited about beginning this school. However, our excitement has declined. The teachers are teaching to the CSAP's. There is no excitement for learning or encouragement to advance. My children are bored and there is no gifted and talented programs. Teachers with tattoos, body piercings and a dirty appearance is unexceptable. My children have been bullied with no real solutions being brought to the table. This school has been knocked off course. It could come back but, will take a great deal of leadership and work.
We placed our children in this setting because of the core curriculum and high standards. Overall expectations from when the school started have greatly declined. Double standards for a dress code for the children and staff. Teaching/Office staff members with nose rings, multiple piercings, tatoos, jeans and in sweats. A very great number of teaching staff that are new; a new principal and three new Board Members by June of 2009, out of a total of five members. Parents that grade class and homework assignments on a large scale. Safety concerns and bully issues not being addressed in a timely fashion and consistent manner. A lack of materials for some of the teaching staff and a watering down of the curriculum because of this problem. No gifted or talented program for kids that are wanting more! This school could be so much more, please get back on track!

This school has gone beyond our expectations for a public charter school and we have been very satisfied with the school. The education is excellent, the teachers a very qualified and are above average, and with the new building, the safety of the children is top notch. My kids love this school and so do I.
