I have attended WMHS for three years now, and I believe it's above average, but isn't living up to the potential. Our new principal doesn't have a positive attitude towards the students at all, and talks to us as if we do not know how to act in public.I think the best aspects of WMHS are the teachers and EC activities, as most of the teachers I have had so far have had a positive attitude and efficient teaching strategies, and we have a club or sport for everyone; no one is really left out unless they want to be. I don't know anything about parent involvement, but I do know that the school spirit is pretty awful, and in no particular grade. Safety and discipline is also awful, as we have had multiple fist fights this year resulting in police involvement.

The block scheduling is inefficient as the students are not able to focus for 90 minutes on one subject. After moving, i have realized that your education is much better elsewhere. The classes focus on trying to get students to pass the HSA. In most of the classes especially math, more time is spent on prep for standardized tests than the actual subject. As a result, students don't receive the knowledge they need to know and more classes are added to fill these gaps. The students are less than commendable and fights are common. Not that this really matters, but the lunches are awful. No outside choices are available either. The school is poor and cannot afford technology and other teaching tools that many other schools can. The school also tremendously lacks school spirit. Nobody cares about WM or takes pride in it.

A great school with tremendous support from the teachers and an administration taking the school in the right direction.
