DHS is a great school, but like many things in life, the more you put in, the more you will take out. There are excellent teachers and classes and caring administrators, but you need to be involved in your own education. Both of my children graduated from DHS and are doing really well. One has a PhD and the other is a 4.0 student in science at a prestigious university. Test scores don't tell a complete story. I would guess that the top students at DHS would do just fine when competing against the top students from any area high school and the diversity is a wonderful bonus.

Danbury High School is a fantastic place to learn. The teachers and administrators are great to work with. There's much more to say, but I have to write an English paper! DHS rocks!

I am a former student of Danbury High School! I am very proud to say that I made it through Danbury High School not because I made it through without falling through the cracls and because I never got in trouble but because DHS is one of the most amazing high school in CT! It's size and diversity can be overwhelming at first but from day one I knew that DHS is where I belonged and I felt very welcoming by upperclassman, teachers, and staff. Many people say that DHS is not a safe place but I assure you that if you don't look for trouble, trouble will never find you! Also, many paople say that the curriculum is not very challenging. I believe tht the curriculum is very challenging and it just depends on the drive the student. I would recommend DHS to anyone looking good change in their education.
I'm a senior at DHS and I have always felt safe here. To parents worried about there being 'fights everyday' your child would have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time ALL THE TIME. I would be lying if I claimed I'd never seen a fight there, but certainly not everyday, at least not physical ones. The school itself is very well kept considering there are well over 3000 people in it on a daily basis between 7am and 7pm when most sports practices and games are over. My teachers have never left my e-mails unanswered so chances are if your not getting a response you've entered the wrong e-mail address. It is crowded and may seem chaotic but if you've stepped inside for 10 minutes+ I doubt you've felt unwelcome or nervous. Its diversity makes it great and its unlikely you wont find someone similar to you.
