I love the small class size and the wonderful teachers who spend the time getting to know each student.

As a parent with a child entering kindergarten, we reviewed several schools and decided to send him to Highland. We have been so impressed with the Administrators, teachers and Head of School. The administration is very involved, teachers care about each child and the parents all seem to volunteer. I couldn't say enough about the little extras that this school offers, from the class plays, to the public speaking. Thus far, I'm very impressed.
Two students and 14 years, so far, we ve seen the school grow. Highland is well on their way of implementing their strategic plan as can be seen by the massive additions of new academic buildings. Highland s headmaster, Mr. Berg, has a unique perspective to guide Highland through this process. His life s work has been in academics. His experiences at St. Stephen s St. Agnes School and Flint Hill make him supremely qualified to implement the vision of the school. The teachers are, for the most part, excellent. The lower school is excellent, the middle school is making great improvements under their new leadership and the upper school has been remarkable thus far. The sports programs in the upper school are highly competitive within their respective conferences and beyond, teaching the values of goal setting, hard work, and team work which will benefit student athletes the rest of their adult lives.
There is a wide range of socioeconomic statuses at Highland. We re in the spectrum that relies heavily upon financial aid and our children are not treated any different. Are there very wealthy families? You bet, and fortunately many of them are quite philanthropic as evidenced by the volunteerism, state of the art theatre and new synthetic turf field. The bottom line is that at Highland, the question is not are you going to attend college ? It is, which of the college will you choose to attend ? Is Highland expensive? Yes. Is Highland perfect? Nope, but it s the most well rounded, best, school in the area. Is it for everybody? No. It s for those who choose to place their children s overall educational experience above all else.
