East Elementary is a great school located in a wonderful neighborhood with caring teachers and staff. Unfortunately, the new regime of Iron Mountain Public Schools Administration has decided it costs too much money to educate our children in a facility close to their homes. They keep citing 'declining enrollment.' Now we are being forced to either bus our kids across town, send them to a neighboring district, send them to a private school, or homeschool them. Keep closing good schools and see how it affects your enrollment. (aka 'funding') I am sorry to say that I fear that as a result of these actions, the district is going to further self-destruct. Parents that care about the quality of their kids' educations are going to find a way to do better the Iron Mountain Public Schools.
