The teacher's are fabulous. The school is undergoing a transition. A new middle school is in the process of receiving building approvals. This will greatly help with overcrowding. The school desperately needs a revised, updating core curriculum. The kids are working out of textbooks that are 11+ years old in math and reading. Science and social studies programs are from 1987! The township just hired a new superintendent so hopefully he will realize that above building a new structure what goes into the curriculum is critical to keeping up with the world of today.

This is a good school undergoing needed transition. Plans for a new middle school have been funded, to open in 2007. Grade 5-8 leaving will help the overcrowding situation tremendously. The teachers here are creative, caring, and focused on the children. My 2 kids have learned well in grades k-4. There are many opportunities within the school for community service and character building. It's a pretty low-key environment, and my kids think of it as their second home. There is an excleent after-school care program (at reasonable cost) run by school employees. It's a lifesaver!

We recently relocated to this area from out of state. Upper Freehold has been excellent in helping our child make the transition. The teaching staff and administration, in particular, is extremely responsive. Email, telephone and personal communications are promptly returned. The overall quality of personnel, including guidance counciling, has been excellent. The school serves a number of small but growing communities, so facilities could be upgraded--but important areas like information technology (computer access, access to Internet, science laboratories, etc) are not compromised. The school is located in rural New Jersey and is a relatively small school, or at least it has that small town feel, and the parents and staff seem dedicated to keeping it that way. Parent involvement is encouraged. Overall grade: A.
