I have to disagree with the parents who state that the principals look down on you if you raise a complaint. My child is in her third year at Lake Harbor and has thrived here. Last year, the fit between she and her teacher was wrong. I spoke to the principal, had her moved to another class, and she had an awesome year. This year she was struggling in math. I talked to her teacher, the teacher went out of her way to talk to my child and encourage her, and everything seems to be back on track. No school is perfect, and every child has his/her own set of challenges. I have always found the staff at Lake Harbor to be very willing to help. My child is one who fits 'outside the box' and our experience here has been wonderful.
I feel Lake Harbors reputation is unwarranted. my son had a horrible year with a teacher who cared more about the paycheck then the students. You need to be on the A list to get anywhere with this school. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
If you want a school that treats all children like they are five, looks down on children with a little lesser means, doesn't beleive that discipline should be any harsher than 'Now Johnny that's not nice', and doesn't know what to do if your child doesn't fit into the 'perfect little mold'. Then this school is for you. Although the teachers have good creditionals, and the school has high test scores, it is not a school geared toward teaching. It is more a giant day care, catering to the tennis and soccer moms. The teachers and priciple are afraid of the parents and consider you undesirable as a parent if you object or raise questions about what the majority of parents like. My son's school experience and ability to thrive in a classroom grew in leaps and bounds once we transfered to a different school.
